Over 70 different machines and systems have been designed and built by Newcor applying the full range of processing technologies for the manufacture of laundry washers and dryers. New developments and applications for seam and roll spot welding, piercing, blanking, gauging and testing, embossing, planishing, expanding, tangent bending and grinding have been effectively applied for improved productivity, better quality and the reduction of manufacturing costs and scrap.
| Critical CPK quality levels of 2.0 are consistently being met with machine designs that provide optimum stability, utilize the advantages of rigid mechanical design concepts, and use data acquisition to enhance statistical problem solving. |

Newcor supplies fabricated enclosures to all the major appliance manufacturers, Capabilities include individual fabricating units or complete integrated manufacturing systems.
Enclosure processing today utilizes many non-welding operations to facilitate the increased use of prepainted steel sheets and coils. Conventional blanking, notching, piercing and shearing operations are being combined with tangential bending, lancing, and crimping techniques to produce enclosures and cabinets with the best economics and aesthetics.
As a valued supplier to the appliance industry, Newcor has participated in the evolution of the industrys factory automation. The increased application of prepainted steel by the appliance manufacturer has significantly impacted new manufacturing systems as the high quality finish needs to be maintained all along the process.
Prepainted steel has brought on more staked and riveted constructions and increased use of roll forming techniques, replacing many die forming operations. Dimensional stability and surface quality are maintained by these special Newcor metal fabricating systems.

Assembly in appliance manufacturing is requiring more use of mechanical fastening techniques to accommodate the prepainted steels, as well as the desire of the manufacturer to reduce the numbers of nuts, bolts and screws used.
Newcor builds manufacturing systems that incorporate mechanical fastening process to attach shelves and reinforcement ribs to a variety of cabinets and wrappers. These techniques are also used during final stages of enclosure build for dimensional control.

The advent of prepainted steels has required the need for metal forming processes that offer a better alternative to conventional folding. Again, Newcor has led the way in applying these processes to metal forming and fabricating.
One unique process that is finding increased application is tangential bending. This is a metal forming process that takes flat or preformed prepainted steel and precision bends or forms it to a specific radius. This cold forming process is accomplished by controlling the movement of a block-type rocker die pivoting around a curved radius die. The result is a precisely formed bend without disturbing the prepainted surface quality.
